Thor: The Dark World

Ok so I'v been meaning to do a review on Thor 2 for a little while now and I finally sat down my lazy butt to do it. Soooo back to Thor. Honestly I LOVED IT!!! I thought it was wayyyyyyyyy better than the first one. For one thing, it had some good surprises/twists. And Loki fans will love him even more in this movie. He had some hilarious lines which kept the film from being too dramatic and gave Thor 2 some laughs. Now no movie review can be complete without a critic of the acting. Personally, I thought the acting was extremely well done. Couldn't find a flaw.....although I wasn't actually looking for one so...yeah.....Anywhooo I really enjoyed the movie; it mixed drama with humor, the acting was good, and the storyline was interesting. So that about wraps that up....oh wait did I forget about the action? Yes, yes don't worry there was plenty of action in the film. Thor: The Dark World is definitely worth seeing in theaters.

Wardrobe Essentials

Every girl needs to have these wardrobe essentials. Without them, your closet just won't be complete!

1. A little black dress (LBD). Practically every woman owns one. And with good reason. They are versatile, classy and elegant. The main components  in an LBD is (of course!) the color black and simplicity. Many are simple, classic dresses but some have more "bling" than others.  Length is also a factor in these dresses. To find one that siuts you all year, you should choose one around the knee. That way it's not to cold for winter and not to hot for summer. Here are some great looking LBD'S to help spark some ideas!

2. A neutral blouse. White, black, grey, brown, anything that's more neutral should be in every girls closet. Why? Because they make great base shirts for layering and if you have a busy bottom piece you probably don't want a busy top one. They are also geat to pair with statement items such as a bright or big necklace. Still another thing to pair with a neutral blouse is a scarf. With these simple basic colored shirts you can have a fabulous look!

3. The tank. It's perfect for summer because it's light and airy, casual but still chic, and great for winter because you can wear a cute jacket with it. However, not all tanks are good ones. Here are two things you want to look for in a good tank. 1) Sturdiness. I know it sounds weird but its true. If you get a super thin, flimsy tank that looks like the wind could blow it off you, chances are it's not going to last long. One run through the washing machine and its gone! So you want to find a tank that isn't flimsy and looks like it'll last at least through one cycle. 2) Modesty. Need I say more? 3)Print. Before you get the print/patterned ones, grab at least one tank that's in  neutral color that you wear often for the reason stated above. Once you've have that, you obviously choose a tank with design you love! Here are some tanks I love.

4. A cardigan. This is an absolute MUST! I cannot tell you how many times I wear my black cardigan. In fact, I'm wearing it now! As always, get a neutral before a colored one. The thing I love most about these is how versatile they are. You can wear them with anything and they keep you warm which is an absolute must for me.

5. Black jeans/business pants. These are so stinkin stylish every women should have at least one pair of black jeans and one pair of black dress pants. They are extremely versatile, not to mention black is slimming. I found a great pair of these jeans for $10 at Forever 21 and I absolutely loovvvveee them! With black dress pants already being so dressy, you can pair them with a more casual/comfortable top and get away with it and both these pants and the jeans look great with heels.

So that about wraps this post up. I hope you enjoyed it and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Yay or Nay: A Celebrity Fashion Comparison

Celebrities are often considered by most to be fashionistas, trend setters and in style at all times. They often have the cutest wardrobes and they know what they look good in. They work it! However, there are some times when a celebrity's outfit just isn't quite there. It's......... tacky. Below are some classy outfits compared with tacky ones.

1. The patriotic number. Almost every American celeb, and almost every American, has worn patriotic colors at some point. But sometimes, it doesn't seem so patriotic.

Carrie Underwood's tank looks comfortable, chic, airy annd patriotic without being immodest. (Note i'm talking simply about the shirt, not the pants.)
This shirt, if you can call it that, looks like it's just been thrown on and might fall off any minute. Definitely not the most modest or chic patriotic number.

2. The LBD (little black dress).  It's a staple in almost every women's closet. They differ in length,* fabric, and style, but most are elegant and classy. At least, they should be.* Note although most LBD'S are short, the term is used ( by me at least) broadly and I wanted to show some long LBD'S.

Angelina Jolie looks stunning in this dress. It's everything an LBD should be: elegant, classy and flattering.
J. Lo what exactly were you thinking? This dress isn't appropriate for any public place because  it's way too revealing not to mention tacky. Please, just go home and burn this dress. If that sounds too harsh I'm sorry ...but the truth hurts sista!

3. The floral print. I love floral; it's so pretty and feminine. However, there is a trick to wearing floral, one that some people haven't mastered.

Miranda Kerr works the floral print by not allowing it to overwhelm her. Really small prints with little space between flowers can be hard on the eyes. Too big flowers can be overwhelming as well, especially if the dress is long. However, Miranda did a fabulous job; she looks pretty and feminine.

No words.........just, just no

4. The bright yellow look. It's hard to master, and many celebs look terrible, or just ok in it. It's important to have the right skin tone for this one. And you need to consider the shade and length of the outfit. A long, bright neon yellow is often not the most pleasing color to look at. I recommend being extremely cautious when its comes to this look.

Vanessa Hudgens actually seems to pull of this look pretty well. Notice how the color isn't searing bright, so it doesn't detract from her face. She looks great!

Noooo Kat Graham, i'm sorry to say that the dress looks like a towel. The shade actually hurts my eyes and it detracts from your pretty face. And what is with those boots? This dress is a no no.

5. The black lace design. Lace is another staple and recently it's been everywhere. Lace adds wonderful fancy detailing. You can never go wrong with lace......well...almost never.

Jennifer Hewitt's dress looks great on her, and the lace adds intricate detailing. It shows off some skin while being appropriate and looking fabulous. It's a win-win!

Dear Kristen Stewart....I'm sorry but lace by itself does not function as a shirt. Please go get one. Sincerely, everyone.

Fangirling and Sherlock

Lets face it, almost every girl has a fandom ( and if you don't know what that means then you should check out this awesome blog  http://authoressinthemaking.blogspot.com/2013/10/vocabulary-of-fangirl-part-1.html) Here's how to tell if you are officially a fangirl of the awesome tv series Sherlock
.

You know you're a Fangirl of Sherlock when......

1. You get super excited whenever anyone brings up anything even remotely along the lines of tv shows and actors because now you can talk about Sherlock!!! ahhh *high pitched squeal*

2. You know exactly what a "mind palace" is and can constantly be heard saying " Get out,  I need to go to my mind palace." I mean seriously, how awesome is Sherlock's brain!?

3. You blow all you savings on anything Sherlock related. I mean how could you not buy that 22 baker street ipod touch case? Seriously!

4. You cry every time you watch John at the graveyard scene in the Reichenbach Fall . *gasp* the feelsss

5. You sit for hours watching Sherlock and you don't care how many times you watch each episode. Sherlock and John just never get old.

6. You read a bunch of theories and/or make your own theory about how Sherlock survived the Fall.  Spending fifteen minutes analyzing that one scene is completely normal....right?

7. You have a pinterest board entirely devoted to the series and you constantly pin to it. You pin so much about Sherlock that some of your friends have even stopped following you.....but it's totally worth it.

8. You scream, gasp, faint, squeal, giggle and pretty much anything else along those lines when you talk about the series with another fangirl. Nothing beats fangirling with another fangirl!

9. Your non fangirl friends are beginning to call you obsessive.  But they just don't understand.

10. You're constantly heard saying "[insert name here] don't talk out loud, you lower the iq of the whole street." Or in my case, room.

Well, that about sums up how to know if you're a fangirl of Sherlock. Of course there are loads more, but I'll save that for another post. :p
