Hot Heuz Product Review

If you go to the hair section on Pinterest, it won't be long before you see picture after picture of hair that's dyed/highlighted and unnatural hair color like blue. It doesn't take long for many to succumb to the trend (unless you're adamantly against it). However, for those of us who are less brave to go for a permanent look, or who want to test out a color, there are other options than dye. One of them being the popular hair chalking. I was looking at ways to do this when I came across the product called hot huez and decided to try it out. Below is a tutorial/review of the product.

Hot huez price: Approx $10
Where to buy: Amazon, Sally's beauty supply, Walmart,

To use this product you need only two things; the product itself and spray in/leave in conditioner. Trust me the conditioner is very necessary; water won't work because it doesn't hold the chalk in properly. I just used Ion lightweight anti frizz spray in/leave in conditioner.

The package comes with four colors: purple, green, pink, and blue. As you can see, I've used a lot of the purple one. Before you apply it, make sure your hair is brushed!

The first step is to choose a small section of hair and then spray it liberally with the conditioner. Handy tip: wear a t-shirt that you wouldn't mind ruining because it doesn't take much for the chalk to end up all over the place.

Next, take the applicator and, holding it tight, slide it down your hair slowly. Make sure the cushion side of the applicator is on the inside of your hair because whichever side you put the actual chalk on will be the most visible. Tip: you probably need to apply the chalk to your hair 2-3 times.

 Here's the green!

Below is the completed look incorporating all the colors. Green and pink are on the left and blue and purple are on the right. Pink is the most vibrant, then blue and purple, and green is the most difficult to see. (Probably because of the lighting)

My review: There are some pros and cons to this product. First, I like how easy and simple it is; no heat required (like in normal hair chalking) Second, I like that it does color my hair and that it comes out in one wash. Alsothe texture of the product after applied is surprisingly ok. However, like every product, it has its cons. (Note most of the cons have to do with the fact that it's chalk and as such it's gonna have problems.) First of all, the color isn't extremely vibrant and it fades easily. I had to reapply all of them at least once. Also, you cant really brush your hair afterwards without the risk of the color fading. And the darker your hair is, the harder it will be to see the color. Overall, I think the product is ok. When you compare it to hair chalking with regular chalk, it is better, but there are better options out there such as the Jerome color hair spray. Hot Huez is good for just playing around or testing to see if you want to go permanent, but for long lasting wear, it's not the best

I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Festive Party Looks

Christmas parties are the very best time to show off your festiveness. And there's nothing I love more than parties and chic clothes. Below are some great festive looks.

The age old classic red dress. Black heels would look great with this type of dress.

This is simply lovely! Wear it with a black (or green jacket if you want to be even more festive, just make sure it looks good with it)

If you get cold easily, then a long sleeve red dress is for you. Pair it with some tights or leggings and boots for extra warmth.

Emerald or dark green earrings and necklaces are perfect to wear with any red dress! If you don't want to wear green, black is always a safe and classy choice.

Black pants or skirt. If you feel more comfortable in jeans or just don't want to wear a dress, black skinny jeans are a great pick for you. Either heels or flats will work, depending on the type of party. A black skirt also makes a great base for a festive top.

A green (or red) blazer, black skinny jeans, and heels make a great and dressy combo.Underneath the blazer, you could wear white or black, or if the green is a darker green, even red.

This is definitely a more casual top, made for a more casual party. To dress it up, add a bright red necklace such as the one below. Having your hair in a high bun would also compliment this look.

This long red necklace will go great with black, white, or dark green.

I love ruffles!!! Soooo cute and feminine.Simple black earrings and a black blazer= fabulous!!

A perfect red overlay top. Black or white would look best underneath.

The white Christmas look. This is a little less worn, but nevertheless chic. Just make sure the white dress is wintry enough and not too springy (example of too springy: shear, no sleeves, and super short)

I love the lace on this dress, however it is a little short for winter. So I love the socks with it. Adding a red belt and red jewelry would make this look festive.

This is PERFECT!! Long sleeves for warmth and the length is just right. This dress gives you a great opportunity for making a statement with your accessories.

Perfect for white dresses and even some of the outfits above, these shoes are ooo la la~

I love these shoes too! The bow is soooooo cute and they make great statement shoes.

Simple black dress. It's a lot like the white dresses above. You can add red or green to make it festive.

Add a bright red jacket and black or red heels and you're good to go!

Again same thing. It's so easy to look festive with a black dress.

I adore these red earrings. They will go fabulous with pretty much any color shown here.

A gorgeous emerald green set that will go perfect with red, black, or white.

The green dress. Like the classic red dress, these dresses can be the center statement with simple, black accessories, or you can be a little more festive and pair it with pops of red.

This is a perfect stand alone dress. Replace the belt with a black one, add a black sweater and shoes and you're good to go!

I love how this outfit brings in the red not just in her shoes, but also in her beret. This is a great example of adding pops of color not just in jewelry or shoes. You could also add it in a scarf or belt.

From the Runway to Real Life: Fall/Winter 2013 Trends

Since I consider myself a fashonista, It may be surprising to you that I dislike the Runway. Why? Because so often the clothes shown are crazy, extreme, strange and unusable in the real world. Unless of course you want people to stare at you with mouths agape while they wonder if you just escaped from an insane asylum or something. I don't know about you, but I prefer not to receive those looks thank you very much. However, while we may not be able to wear the exact looks that come from this fashion haven, we can spot a few trends to implement in our normal, less crazy, wear. Below are a few chic trends from the fall/winter 2013 Runway.

1. Red Plaid.  Yep this classic is back! And in an oh so trendy way. Luckily with this trend, you can get it in a variety of ways; from scarves to jackets. One unique thing about red plaid is its association (at least in my mind) with Christmas. When I look at the print below, I think Christmas, probably because of the red and green. And since Christmas is almost here, it's the perfect time to wear this trend! After the runway picture are a few looks incorporating red plaid

This runway look is surprisingly pretty! I love the little buckle things, they're just so fetch!

This is a classic example of a plaid scarf. I love how she's wearing it with a base shirt and the sunglasses are oo la la!

.

This is a wonderful example of a plaid skirt not to mention a stunning picture! The skirt's long and billowy, yet  chic as well. The best top to wear with a skirt like this is a simple one. Whether black, dark green or white.

I am in LOVE with this dress. It's just so..soo perfect! I adore the edgy leather jacket pared with this dress as well. Red plaid + cute dress +leather jacket = fabulousness!

2. Print Jackets. These jackets are statement pieces and need to be worn as such, meaning you make the jacket the star and try to have nothing else competing with it for attention. The runway (unsurprisingly) failed at this this season, having other clothing items screaming "Look at me!" Don't make this same mistake! When choosing a print jacket, you want to make sure that you love it AND have something to go with it. These jackets aren't like a simple black jacket that you can wear with everything, so don't buy one that's expensive and requires you to go buy another piece, unless you are absolutely sure you will wear it regularly.

While these patterned jackets aren't terrible by themselves, the outfits look awful because you have the wacky hair and unattractive pants/skirts all competing for attention. A good example of how NOT to wear this trend!
This is a classic, stylish print jacket that's also unique because of the way it's cut. Definitely a great find!

I'm crazy about the colors in this jacket! Not to mention the print is very in right now. One thing to note is what's going on in the outfit. Nothing is shouting "Look at me"but the jacket, leaving it the star. A great example of how to wear a patterned jacket.

While this isn't a print jacket, I had to feature it because it's just so cute and it's a statement jacket like the other ones.

3. Pale Pink. This a very feminine and springy color. Which is why I was a little surprised that I saw this color as much as I did. I mean, it doesn't seem like a very wintry color to me. However, I quickly realized there are ways to make it look more wintry and fit this season. One way is to get this trend in a warm sweater, that way you'll automatically look more wintry. Another way you can "winter it up" is by pairing it with dark colors, such as grey or black. A great look incorporating this is a pale pink scarf over a black shirt. Below are a few more looks.... just don't copy the runway one.

To be honest, this looks like something an old person would wear, not to mention it's pretty unflattering. The sweater looks warm and the shade of the pants is pretty, however the shoes seem to clash with the pink and again the oeverall look isn't too appealing.

All the black with the pale pink makes this outfit look wintry and fabulous. I love everything about this; the shoes, the pants, the sweater, the purse,.... EVERYTHING! Can anyone say trendy?

I was tempted to show a skirt or scarf in pale pink, but I decided this one was better. I think it's a good illustration of looking wintry in pale pink without wearing super dark colors. And the reason she accomplishes this is because the shirt's a cozy, bundle up in me sweater.

While the dress is a tad short, the overall look is still cute and trendy. Again, the dark black tights, boots, and jacket keep this dress from looking like she wants spring to come early.

4. Stripes and Dots. They are everywhere right now, not just on the runway. With this look, i recommend being a little cautious. It's somewhat difficult to pull off. However, I have a few tips for you. If your not sure how you want it to look, you could  get the stripes and dots in one shirt already (example below). If you want to actually pair these looks together yourself, you want to make sure the colors are the same or at least coordinate. Another thing is you want to feel how the overall look is. Sometimes it just doesn't look right, even if the colors match.

Well.....the middle dude looks ok i guess...but not my fav look. And the dude on the right...well his jacket is so large on him it makes me wonder if it was a hand me down. Not to mention the outfits seem somewhat uncomplementaery. Overall this isn't a look i really love.
This trendy shirt incorporates dots and stripes nicely. A good shirt to start out with when you start pairing these two styles. It makes it much easier and gives you a good feel for how you want your other pairings of them to look.

I UH-DORE this outfit. The stripes add a little spice, but they don't distract from the dots. All I can say is "Where can I buy this!"

Notice how this pairing is almost exactly the same color, thus creating a complimentary look. I also love the belt, it adds a nice break in the outfit. This is another fabulous pairing of stripes and dots.

I hope this post was helpful! Have a fun-filled weekend!!

Wardrobe Essentials

Every girl needs to have these wardrobe essentials. Without them, your closet just won't be complete!

1. A little black dress (LBD). Practically every woman owns one. And with good reason. They are versatile, classy and elegant. The main components  in an LBD is (of course!) the color black and simplicity. Many are simple, classic dresses but some have more "bling" than others.  Length is also a factor in these dresses. To find one that siuts you all year, you should choose one around the knee. That way it's not to cold for winter and not to hot for summer. Here are some great looking LBD'S to help spark some ideas!

2. A neutral blouse. White, black, grey, brown, anything that's more neutral should be in every girls closet. Why? Because they make great base shirts for layering and if you have a busy bottom piece you probably don't want a busy top one. They are also geat to pair with statement items such as a bright or big necklace. Still another thing to pair with a neutral blouse is a scarf. With these simple basic colored shirts you can have a fabulous look!

3. The tank. It's perfect for summer because it's light and airy, casual but still chic, and great for winter because you can wear a cute jacket with it. However, not all tanks are good ones. Here are two things you want to look for in a good tank. 1) Sturdiness. I know it sounds weird but its true. If you get a super thin, flimsy tank that looks like the wind could blow it off you, chances are it's not going to last long. One run through the washing machine and its gone! So you want to find a tank that isn't flimsy and looks like it'll last at least through one cycle. 2) Modesty. Need I say more? 3)Print. Before you get the print/patterned ones, grab at least one tank that's in  neutral color that you wear often for the reason stated above. Once you've have that, you obviously choose a tank with design you love! Here are some tanks I love.

4. A cardigan. This is an absolute MUST! I cannot tell you how many times I wear my black cardigan. In fact, I'm wearing it now! As always, get a neutral before a colored one. The thing I love most about these is how versatile they are. You can wear them with anything and they keep you warm which is an absolute must for me.

5. Black jeans/business pants. These are so stinkin stylish every women should have at least one pair of black jeans and one pair of black dress pants. They are extremely versatile, not to mention black is slimming. I found a great pair of these jeans for $10 at Forever 21 and I absolutely loovvvveee them! With black dress pants already being so dressy, you can pair them with a more casual/comfortable top and get away with it and both these pants and the jeans look great with heels.

So that about wraps this post up. I hope you enjoyed it and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
